Couple widgets to stay connected.

This privacy policy explains what data the Closer — Couple Widgets app (“Closer”, “the app”) collects, how it’s used, and your rights.

When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive an opaque user identifier from Apple. This is what links your two devices to your partner’s two devices. We do not request your real email or name — Apple lets you hide both. If you choose to share them, we still don’t use them for marketing.
If you fill in a profile field in Closer, we sync it so your partner’s app and widgets can show it:

If you grant location permission, the app reads your approximate location (city level) to power the Distance widget and to fill in your city automatically. The full coordinate is shared only with your paired partner, not with us in any other context.
You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Closer → Location.
We store your device’s APNs push token so we can deliver notifications when your partner sends a heart, draws a note, etc. Tokens contain no personal information.
When you pair, we store a record linking your two device identifiers, plus the established date. This is what lets the app know who your partner is.
Hearts, mood changes, drawings, memory updates, and visit changes flow between you and your partner via our Supabase backend. We do not read or analyze these — they’re encrypted in transit and stored only so the partner’s device can sync.
Synced data lives on a Supabase project hosted in the EU (Frankfurt region). Supabase is a SOC 2 Type 2 audited platform. Data in transit is encrypted via TLS; data at rest is encrypted by Supabase.
The only party your data is shared with is your paired partner. We don’t share with anyone else. We don’t sell, rent, or trade your data.
We disclose data only when required by law (e.g., a valid subpoena from a relevant authority), and we’ll tell you about it unless legally prevented from doing so.

If you’re in the EU/EEA, you also have GDPR rights to data portability, restriction of processing, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
Closer is for ages 17+ because pairing is intended for adult relationships. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we’ll delete the account.
If we materially change this policy, we’ll post the updated version here with a new effective date and, where required, notify you in the app.
